Damage & Property Care Clause
By booking and staying at May Cottage, you agree to the following terms:
1. Responsibility for Damage
Guests are responsible for any damage, breakage, or loss caused to the property, its furnishings, fixtures, fittings, or equipment during their stay, whether accidental or deliberate.
2. Notification of Damage
Any damage, breakage, or loss must be reported to the host immediately. Prompt reporting allows us to address issues quickly and fairly.
3. Charges for Damage

The cost of repairs, replacements, or additional cleaning required due to damage, misuse, or neglect will be charged to the lead guest.

If damage exceeds the value of the security deposit (where applicable), the guest will be liable for the full cost.

Charges may be deducted from the security deposit (if taken) or invoiced directly to the guest.
4. Loss of Keys
If any keys are lost, damaged, or not returned at check-out, a replacement fee of £70 will apply to cover the cost of providing new keys.
5. Excessive Cleaning
The property should be left in a clean and tidy condition. Additional cleaning required beyond normal use may result in extra charges, including the cost of replacing stained or damaged bed linen and towels.
6. Unreported Damage
If damage is found after check-out that was not reported during the stay, the host reserves the right to seek payment from the guest, supported by photographic evidence and receipts for repairs/replacement.
7. Authority to Recover Costs
By confirming your booking, you authorise the host to recover costs for damage, loss, or key replacement from the payment method used for the booking, the security deposit, or via a formal invoice.
